Amazing Author - Roald Dahl

When we return next week our Amazing Author is Roald Dahl. There will be information on the author and books on display. If you have read a Roald Dahl book then why not use the holiday to write a short book review? You can drop your review into the library next week and record an audioboo.

Here are some books we have on offer in the library, but if you can't wait till next week to get your hands on them, see if they have any at your local library.

Mr and Mrs Twit are really disgusting. They smell because they never wash, they fight because they play tricks on each other, AND they hate children! But worse of all, they keep monkeys in their back garden. In cages. It's time for the monkeys to get their revenge on these two most revolting creatures.

Matilda Wormwood's father is a mean crooked crook. And her mother's just plain stupid. they think Matilda is a nuisance who should watch more TV and read fewer books! but her lovely teacher Miss Honey thinks Matilda is a genius. Matilda has a few extraordinary tricks up her sleeve, so her horrible parents and even more horrible headmistress had better watch.

Charlie Bucket loves chocolate. And Mr Willy Wonka, the most wondrous inventor in the world, is opening the gates of his incredible chocolate factory to five lucky children. it's the prize of a lifetime! Gobstoppers, wriggle sweets and a river of melted chocolate await - Charlie needs just one Golden Ticket and these delicious sweets could all be his.

Witches really are a detestable breed. they disguise themselves as lovely ladies, when they want to squish and squelch all the wretched children they despise. Luckily one boy and his grandmother's know how to recognise these vile creatures - but can they get rid of them for good?

Click on the world of Roald Dahl below to find out more about the author, see the books he has wrote and join in with some fun and games, but remember to get permission from your parents first! :)

Years 1 and 2 Review Zog, By Julia Donaldson

Today, groups of pupils from Pine and Cedar visited the library and listened to one of our new stories, Zog, the story of an accident-prone dragon who wants to earn a golden star at school.

Here's what the children thought...

'Zog was really clumsy, I didn't like it when the knight came to rescue Princess Pearl and when Zog went to the tower to capture a princess.'
Rose-Anna

'It was good when Zog got a golden star for capturing the princess.'
Mason

'My favourite part was when Princess Pearl wanted to become a doctor.'
Ellie-Jo

'Julia Donaldson was the author of this book, she wrote The Gruffalo and The Highway Rat too!'
Fitzroy

'Some of the words were the same on different pages, like, FLYING THROUGH THE BLUE.'
Pieyce

'We saw The Gruffalo on the horse's blanket, there was a Gruffalo cookie in The Highway Rat and a Gruffalo Fish in Tiddler, The Story-Telling Fish!'
Lillie-Jo

'It made me upset when the Zog hurt his nose when he crashed into a tree.'
Ronnie

'I liked all the parts with Princess Pearl in, I knew she was going to be a doctor because she liked helping people.'
